Our "Best Yet" 2011 Fall Release
We are delighted to offer you the best wines yet from Benovia
Winery.
We believe the 2009 vintage wines are across the board our best
so far. These wines are elegant, expressive, and bursting with
flavor and aromas. They're beautifully balanced, tightly
structured and wonderfully textured. In short, they have it
all.
James Laube of Wine Spectator says of the 2009 vintage
from Russian River that "Pinot lovers have never had it this good."
We couldn't agree more!
With this 2011 Fall Release we are introducing our first-ever
Grenache. We experimented with this wine in 2007 and everyone loved
it. Our Grenache comes from Winemaker Mike Sullivan's family
vineyard on Sonoma Mountain. We know it doesn't exactly fit in with
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and Zinfandel, but we also know a great
wine when we taste it. Let us know what you think.

2009 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

This Chardonnay comes from a selected block of
the Lee Martinelli Jr. Charles Vineyard on the third coastal ridge
from the ocean, near the town of Seaview. The low fertility soils
and cooler termpartures near the Pacific help shape the distinctive
characteristics of this Chardonnay. It's a wonderfully seductive
wine displaying aromas of citrus blossom and green apple with
underlying mineral notes. You'll love the tension on your palate
between the bright acidity and cool-climate structure, all
beautifully framed with flavors of Jonathan apple and honeydew
melon. $42 | Very Limited

2009 Cohn Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma County

Our oldest estate vineyard planted in 1970 to a massale
selection of Pinot Noir the Cohn Vineyard would be considered old
by California standards. Cohn's gnarled, dry-farmed
vines produced compact clusters and below average yields in
2009 -- fruit perfectly stressed for this extraordinary wine. Cohn
pours a medium ruby color, followed by gorgeously intense aromas of
spring flowers, Queen Anne cherries, and roasted herbs. Year after
year, the hallmark of this venerable site is an etherally-floral
aromatic quality, fine tannins, and a long, complex finish.

2009 La Pommeraie Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

The spectacular Martinelli vineyard sits along the Laguna Ridge
at the edge of the Green Valley AVA. Once a spectacular apple
orchard, we paid homage to the Martinelli Family and the site by
naming our wine La Pommeraie - French for apple
orchard. This luscious single vineyard Pinot Noir will immediately
impress you with its depth and concentration in the glass, and its
remarkably explosive aromas of boysenberry and black cherry. On the
palate it's viscous and rich, yet light on its feet, with
fine-polished tannins and exceptionally balanced acidity.

2009 Savoy Vineyards Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
After a year's hiatus
due to vineyard smoke damage, our popular Savoy Vineyards Pinot
Noir makes a triumphant return. Located north of Philo, Rich Savoy
has been farming Pinot Noir on this site for some 20 years. We
vinify five different clones of Rich's remarkable fruit and select
only the best barrels for this wine. A favorite of many, this
alluring and hedonistic wine offers amazing extract and purity of
fruit focus. Vibrant aromas of wild strawberry, cranberry and
raspberry soufflé harmonize with floral and East Indian spice
notes. The heady bouquet leads into equally vibrant flavors of Bing
cherry, raspberry and brown sugar. $56 |

2009 Zinfandel, Sonoma County

First planted about 1975, the Cohn Vineyard's Zinfandel blocks grow
on a steep and rocky slope of our estate at the northern end of the
Russian River Valley. After cluster sorting, destemming and berry
sorting, our Zinfandel was fermented utilizing open top
fermentation. A favorite of many, our Zin displays lively aromas of
vine-ripened blackberries and Kirsch liqueur with just a hint of
white pepper. On the palate, the wine's exuberant fruit is balanced
centered acidity, building with fruit through the mid-palate to the
luscious fine tannins and a long finish.

2009 Grenache, Sonoma Mountain

Our new Grenache comes from the Four Brothers Vineyard along the
western slope of Sonoma Mountain. The vineyard is situated in a
cool microclimate because of its proximity to the cold wind and fog
that flow through the Estero Gap from the Pacific Ocean. This
Grenache is gushing with aromas of currant, black plum and Bing
cherry. The lifted aromas are followed by flavors of red fruit and
milk chocolate. Sixteen months of oak aging in neutral barrels have
brought out hints of savory herbs, grilled meats, and licorice in
this complex and delicious wine. $32 | Very
